Maintenance and Backup
Because the CFATS application is resident on Unkar Systems' hardware, users are not burdened by the need to install and maintain software. Changes in hardware or operating systems will not affect the ability to use the system and our frequent system upgrades are automatically and immediately available to all users without the need for reinstallation.
Unkar Systems also eliminates the need to backup your data or maintain redundant backup hardware. All client data and the Unkar Systems CFATS system software are kept current on our Hewlett Packard mainframe computer. A remote disaster recovery site receives complete data files nightly. A tape backup of all data and operating system files stored on the system is made every business day. This tape is stored off-site on a daily basis. Unkar Systems proprietary software documentation is also stored both on-site and off-site.
Additionally, the backup from the prior month end is kept off-site for the following month. Unkar Systems has a fire-proof safe on site that is used to keep (1) backups of each day for the past 25 days, (2) every month-end backup for the previous seven years; and (3) every year-end backup since Unkar Systems has been in business. All client data as well as the entire CFATS system is also backed up to a second hard disk on the Unkar Systems system for quick retrieval on the following business day. Unkar Systems can also create customized backups for specific clients that can be picked-up daily for vault storage at an offsite location.
We also maintain a redundant disaster recovery system offsite, which is identical to that employed at Unkar Systems. We routinely test our disaster recovery procedures, systems and hardware to ensure that they are ready in the event our primary site goes down. Unkar Systems uses a local vendor to provide hardware maintenance (on a one hour response basis) as well as a disaster recovery support service.
