Who We Are
About Unkar Systems
In 1977, Steve Boucke developed the software used by Unkar Systems. At first, the system focused on commodity futures and managed capital. As the needs of the clients changed and grew, so did our services and software capabilities. Many of our clients have been with us in some form or fashion for the past 15 years.
Unkar Systems started with a single office in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has grown to include satellite offices outside of Lake Tahoe, Chicago and New York.
The company has gone through a few restructures since beginning in 1977 but it has stayed true to small family owned roots. Unkar Systems looks to the future to develop products and services that will assist our clients in the coming years as new markets and regulations emerge.
Meet the Team
One of Unkar Systems’ most valuable assets is the dedication of our staff. We believe in our people and their potential. With over 50 years of combined service, we understand our clients’ business and their unique requirements.
Garrett Boucke has extensive experience in the investment fund accounting, administration and partnership tax preparation fields. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2000, he began his career as an Account Manager for Commodity Accounting Systems. During the first few years of his career, Mr. Boucke focused his energy towards the tax preparation and allocations for various investment partnerships. Currently, as part of the Unkar Systems team, his primary function is to provide leadership and guidance for a multitude of existing and startup partnerships. Mr. Boucke operates personally with his clients and focuses on accurately assisting them with all of their requests.
Steven R. Boucke has a background that includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of California at Davis in 1967. Following his attainment of this degree, he spent five years in active duty as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. In 1973, Mr. Boucke and a small group of colleagues formed a private investment fund to be managed by an outside advisor. Mr. Boucke, with a programming background from the Navy and commercial environments, created a software system to report gains and losses to the investors within the pool. By 1977, the demand for this service had grown and Mr. Boucke started Commodity Accounting Systems. In 2002 Commodity Accounting Systems merged to become Customized Accounting Solutions, and expanded the services provided to its clients. In 2006, Customized Accounting Solutions dissolved and Unkar Systems was formed. Today, Unkar System continues the quality service Mr. Boucke began by providing fund accounting and administration services to a wide range of investment fund types including hedge funds, fund of funds, traditional investment funds and commodity pools.

I’m glad that Unkar Systems provides the tax service for my fund. I know that they will get me my fund K-1s soon after the end of the year accounting is complete. The biggest complaint I hear from other fund managers is that they don’t receive their fund K-1s until mid to late March.
I’ve worked with Unkar Systems since launching my fund in 2009 and I am pleased to provide a strong recommendation. In the arena of fund administration and accounting Unkar Systems is extremely knowledgeable, detail oriented, dependable, and is a joy to work with. As the manager of an emerging fund during a time of escalating regulatory and reporting requirements I’ve found their experience and dedication to be an invaluable resource.
Unkar Systems provided consistent, timely and excellent service. (They) took the time to become fully versed in our products and processes and were always willing to do whatever was necessary – enabling our firm to provide top notch service to our investors.
